Set Up
Sit down in a circle, so that everyone can reach the playing mat and see one another. Shuffle the Story Prompt cards and place face down in a pile. Deal 6 cards to each person. They make look at their hand. Shuffle the wooden Modifier Tiles and place face down in a pile. Sort and set out the React Tokens where everyone can reach them. Round Play
Flip over a Modifier Tile and place in the center of the playing area. Players take turns telling stories based on Story Prompt Cards and the flipped over Modifier Tile. They may go in any order, but each person should tell a story each round. We encourage players to tell 1-2 sentence stories that are personal and real, and the tone is set by players throughout the game. Player Actions:

Game can be played to time or till you run out of Modifier Tiles. |

Story Master

This idea is inspired by the Cards Against Humanity "Card Czar," and it tends to yield better utilization of the Elaborate Tokens. Each round has a new designated Story Master. In this version, the Story Master is the only player that can use Elaborate Tokens, and they can only play Elaborate Tokens after the current speaker has shared their initial 1-2 sentence story. Note that the Story Master also does normal player actions, unlike the Card Czar in Cards Against Humanity.
This version runs very quickly and may result in slightly better stories, since players have more options to choose from each time they share. Instead of telling stories about one Modifier Tile at a time, flip over all the Modifier Tiles at once and take turns sharing stories until every tile has had at least one story told about it (or each player has told at least one story for each Modifier Tile). We recommend marking which Modifiers are done by placing used Story Prompts adjacent to their corresponding Modifiers.

Suggestions for Use
Our game gets better when players are able to buy-in and share lots of stories, so it's good to find a comfortable place to hide-out for a while. We recommend setting aside about half an hour so there's time for conversation without time pressure, but the game can be played for anywhere between 15-45+ minutes.
For use with new teams and incoming coworkers, we suggest playing this game at an initial team meeting or in small, rotating groups at a get-to-know-you event or orientation.
For use with old teams and friends, we suggest playing the game at the start of a check-in meeting or a brainstorm session, during breaks, or at a Friday game afternoon/ night (these are highly encouraged regardless of what game you play). With old teams, this can be a fun way to uncover unexpected stories and connections on topics that wouldn't usually come up!
